Springwater Taekwondo Information Letter March 2020
I shall be stepping down as Chief Instructor of the club in March 2021. Over the next 12 months I will be handing my duties and responsibilities over to my son William, who has been training continuously in Taekwondo since 1997. With William and the rest of our instruction team I know that the club is in safe hands.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all, instructors, club officers, students, students’ families, my own family members and friends for all the help and support you’ve given me over the years. I have greatly enjoyed my time with the club but over the last 5 years I have suffered from numerous injury problems that have caused me constant pain. Despite focussing my own training regime on these problems and having numerous treatments with various physiotherapists the injuries have got increasingly worse. These conditions have now deteriorated to the point where performing and demonstrating Taekwondo has become very painful indeed and I believe it’s time to retire from my position and to hand over the reins.
The 12 months transition time will ensure a smooth changeover, so it will be business as usual at Springwater Taekwondo. Over the past few months the other instructors have collectively taken the responsibility for conducting the majority of our lessons. This has allowed me the chance to train and focus on my injuries. They all have different approaches and fresh outlooks on the teaching of Taekwondo. Our students have reacted well and one can already see the progression and improvement in the class. Perhaps I should have retired earlier!
Although I will be giving up formal Taekwondo training I will remain a devoted club member. I will retain my instructor licence and insurance and be on hand to offer help, advice and encouragement to both student and instructor if needed.
Due to the Cornovirus (Covid-19) outbreak, we will be cancelling all lessons until further notice. Please be aware that this is a precautionary measure only. Stay safe and healthy.
